We have lots of members at the club who paddle for fun. They meet on club nights during the week, and paddle the dock complex. At weekends there are more adventurous trips out across the country, to paddle moving and white water. We have lots of different boats available for members to use. You can develop your skills in a kayak and in an open canoe; we offer coaching in both.

Club sessions are run by qualified, British Canoeing coaches. These sessions are ideal to learn basic paddle strokes and then move on to develop white water skills.

Juniors

We regularly run junior sessions, aged 8+. Introductory courses - support groups of young people to follow a British Canoeing programme to develop basic skills and achieve paddlesport personal awards. Parents who want to have a go too can join the general paddlers who paddle out at the same time.

On completion of the introductory course, young paddlers can choose to develop more competitive skills in polo or slalom or continue with general paddling.

Canadian Canoeing

Open Boating sometimes referred to as Canadian Canoeing, is a growing area of interest within the Club. Open boats are a great way to get out onto the water especially for those who don't like the idea of being 'stuck' inside a kayak. They do however offer more than just an alternative to a Kayak. Open boats are fantastic for multi-day trips, taking all your camping equipment into remote and wild places. Opens, however, can also be just at home screaming down the local whitewater rivers with the Kayakers!

The Club has a number of Open Boats that can be borrowed which are ideal for day trips and loading up for multi-day excursions. We would recommend everybody to try Open Boating at some point in their paddling career to experience the joy of paddling these fantastic crafts. For more information on Open boating, where to paddle, suitable equipment etc. Speak to one of the coaches or experienced paddlers in the Club. The internet is also an excellent place to find information.
